The Missouri Bar Association celebrates Juror Appreciation Week May 1-7, 2016.

“Representative government and trial by jury are the heart and lungs of liberty.”

-John Adams

Missouri is one of only a few states that hold a statewide Juror Appreciation Week, with more than 50 courts participating annually. The observance began in 2000 by an order of the Missouri Supreme Court as a way to honor the over 70,000 Missourians who perform their civic duty by reporting to jury duty each year.

During the week long event, judges, lawyers and court clerks emphasize to jurors how important their service is to the courts, their communities, and the judicial system.  Visit the Missouri Bar Association event webpage to learn more about Juror Appreciation Week, watch a video on the importance of jurors, or take a quiz to test your knowledge on jury service.

We appreciate the thousands of citizens throughout Missouri and the rest of the country who serve their duty as a juror each year.  We understand that jury duty can be inconvenient to our daily lives, but the right to a jury trial is fundamental to upholding our constitution and democracy. We thank all who do their part and report for jury duty.
